I don’t know about you, but I started out subcribing by email to various blog pages, but then found my inbox inundated with hundreds of emails, leading to feeling of overwhelm, and after a aweek of that I didn’t open a single one. So I signed up at www.bloglines.com and now I can visit my blogs when I choose to.
So that I’m not constantly dipping in an out and letting it take over my life, I have set aside an hour a week dedicated to reading all the blogs I follow; this is in then followed by an hour I set aside to write my own for the week, feeling all inspired by what I’ve been reading.
Why do I like it?
1. It’ free
2. I can place all the blog feeds that I am interested in on one web page so it is really easy to view
3. They offer a free email account so if you want to sign up to newsletters and have them arrive on your bloglines page instead of your normal inbox, you simply register with that email address. Then you can slot reading newsletters into your ‘blog-reading time’.
4. You can ‘clip’ blog articles that you like by clicking ‘clip’ under any article and it will save it to your clippings page so you can review your favourite articles easily later.
5. You can even create your own blog on bloglines made up of other people’s blog clippings that you think your clients might be interested in. The original author gets full credit and will probably thank you for spreading their words even further, and your clients get loads of useful info – a feature I think I’ll put to the test shortly – I’ll let you know how I get on!
So go and click on the orange RSS button on the right of this page and you can add this blog to your bloglines (or any other reader) page.
